Rev. Samuel Chiang was born in Taiwan. He grew up and worked in Canada (Ernst & Young), graduated from Dallas Seminary where he also served on staff. He was ordained and sent out from the Peoples’ Church, Toronto. He ministered alongside of the global Church and has had extensive experiences with the Church in China. Previously with Partners International, he has been involved with leaders, curricula, software, and community development in China. Samuel has written extensively on China, Asia, and orality. He has also authored book chapters in ‘Innovations in Missions’, ‘Orality Breakouts’, ‘Sorrow and Blood’, ‘Ethnodoxology Handbook’, ‘Beyond Literate Western Models’, ‘Beyond Literate Western Practices’, ‘Beyond Literate Western Contexts’, ‘Christ-Centered Generosity’. Additionally, he, along with a team of colleagues, edits the Orality Journal.
He was formerly the Executive Director of the International Orality Network; and also was the Chief Operating Officer for TWR, an international Christian media organization. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Seed Company, a translation organization within the Wycliffe family of organizations working with mother tongue translators making available oral-written-digitoral forms of the Word of God in the heart language of the people so that the unreached and bibleless peoples will have their first Scripture to transform their own communities. He taught his family how to fish, and is an avid runner and reader. He and his wife, Robbi, had lived in Hong Kong for 25 years.
